How It Works

HandshakeAI is a marketplace with rules that protect everyone: clients fund before publishing, workers get paid only for approved work, and every shilling is traceable in an auditable ledger.

For workers — earn in 6 steps

  1. 1. Register as a worker

Sign up free with your email and add your Kenyan phone number later for payouts. Your account is protected by secure, server-side checks.

  2. 2. Claim an eligible task

Browse published tasks across 10 categories. Each task shows its reward in KSh, the time it should take, the slots available, and the eligibility rules. You can only claim tasks you are eligible for, and slot limits are enforced on our servers — not just on screen.

  3. 3. Do the work and submit

Follow the task instructions exactly and attach the required proof or deliverables. Submit before the deadline.

  4. 4. Client review

The business (or a HandshakeAI administrator) reviews your submission against the task's published approval rules. Most reviews are quick; the review state is always visible in your dashboard.

  5. 5. Approval credits your reward

When your submission is approved, exactly one reward credit is created for you — the money was already funded by the client's campaign, so your reward is never borrowed from anyone else's deposits.

  6. 6. Withdraw to M-Pesa

Request a withdrawal of your available balance to your verified Safaricom number. Withdrawals pass through admin review for fraud protection before payout.

For businesses — hire in 3 steps

  1. 1. Fund your campaign first

Create a campaign with a budget. Tasks cannot go live until the required funds are verified in your campaign balance — a rule enforced on our servers.

  2. 2. Publish clear tasks

Describe the work, the reward, the deadline, the number of slots, the required proof, and the approval rules. Clear instructions mean fewer rejections.

  3. 3. Review submissions

Approve work that meets your rules or reject it with a clear reason. Approving releases the reward from your funded budget — automatically and exactly once.

Rejected work and appeals

If a submission is rejected, the reason is always recorded and shown to you. Where the task allows it, you can resubmit; otherwise you can appeal through support. We never delete your submission history.
